Anime Blog Thoughts: Personality and Blogging

Image
When I started this blog, I didn't really think of it too much, in regards to me as the writer. I always thought that taking care of the blog mattered more than how I was feeling or the content of my thoughts at the time. When I look at my old blog posts, I notice differences in how I wrote, how I thought, and the lingering emotion behind my words. Sometimes it was great, sometimes it was bad, and other times it was just mediocre. Looking upon this now as an experienced anime blogger has really taught me a good amount of lessons. One that always comes to mind is the realization that a blog's quality isn't always judged or altered by the blog itself. Sometimes, the quality of the blog depends on the one who is writing it. Since all of my words come from my head, unless I am quoting someone else or a specific source, this lesson might seen a little obvious. Funny enough, it took me until now to realize this. So I feel that the best thing a blogger can do to improve the...

Starting an Anime Blog? 3 Things I've Learned

Image
I've been running Shooting Star Dreamer for over a year now. It hasn't always been easy, but it's definitely been a fun experience. On top of this, I learned a lot from managing something of my own. There's no one checking my writing and telling me what to include or exclude, no one is telling me what to say, and the only ideas I share on here are my own. It's a nice feeling having something that's your own and nurturing it. That being said, I remember the start of Shooting Star Dreamer being a little rocky. I've always been on this platform, but my blog style was completely different. For one, I didn't use the same colors, and my layout was less interactive and more static. While I had more freedom in what I could add to my blog and customize, it just wasn't for me. I went through of couple of changes, then found this template and stuck with it. Still, it would've been helpful if I had learned a few lessons from other people. There's ...

Happy Birthday Shooting Star Dreamer!

Image
Hey everyone! Just wanted to make a quick post before the end of the 28th. My blog is officially a year old! Thank you everyone for staying with me for this long! I'll continue to do my best!  This post is also a blog update. Since I'm entering a new year of anime blogging, I feel it's a great time to set up a posting schedule. While there will be a few exceptions, the schedule will look somewhat like this: While there's no set time for my posts, I'll try my best to stick to this consistent schedule. Please tune in on these days to read my work! See you all soon, and take care!

Tsundere Examination: Eclair from Dog Days

Image
Once again I'm going to try something new and delve into a character analysis. I'm not going to go really deep, but after watching both seasons of Dog Days, a certain tsundere stood out to me because she developed a bit differently than the rest. This post may contain a few spoilers , but I'll try to keep them to a minimum. "For those who aren't aware, a tsundere (ツンデレ?) (pronounced /(t)sɯn.de.re/) is a Japanese concept of a character archetype which describes a person with a conceited, irritable, and/or violent personality that suddenly becomes modest and loving when triggered by some sort of cause (such as being alone with someone). It can also describe a contradictory personality which is good-willed on the inside, but with a harsh attitude on the outside." For a summary of Dog Days you can check out this link .  From what I've observed tsunderes are really popular in media. A few common examples include, Kōsaka Kirino, Makise Kuri...

Tips for Anime/Manga/Light Novel Writers Who Cannot Draw

Image
As you may or may not know, I don't just run a blog, but I also write fiction in the form of light novels. Throughout my endeavors, I ran into a major problem. I have so many great character designs, but no artistic ability. So what to do if I want to put these ideas into concrete images? Well, there's a couple of options, some free, some not. I'll give you a quick list of the resources I use. Soul Calibur IV/V - Character Creation ~ About 20 dollars or less to buy It's not this in-depth, but you can even plan out concept art like this with pre-designed features in game. Sorry guys, no pictures of my customs for now. (PS3 is currently dead.) This is my main platform for visualizing my characters. I didn't buy either game for the purpose of doing it, but the great system is something that led to numerous characters. Although great, it's not without flaws. There were a few things that irked me when it came to customization. First, I'll sta...

Writer's Block? Look Here...

Image
Each day we write or tell stories in some way. Maybe you're lost writing an epic novel. The hero comes to the end of road to find what? Could you be writing an intergalactic exploration? Is that black hole staring you  right in the face? Perhaps you're a fanfic pro, but you've seem to lost your luster. You could just be the average guy or girl, telling a story of your day. Whatever you are, writer's block happens to everyone. Sure, you can throw your hands up and give in, but what good will that do? I think how we deal with writer's block relates to our lives. I feel as if we live our lives on autopilot. We feel the same things and maintain the same schedule. We fiddle with our smartphones, laptops, and desktops. We peruse the internet, mindlessly visiting the same sites awaiting a new update. Even when it comes to anime, we see the same things. The tsunderes, the silent protagonist, the villain that no one likes. Aside from the programmed responses we have...
